Close-up of a woman with long brown hair, brown eyes, and a slight smile, with a brick wall in the background. New York Therapist. Woman.

Hi! My name is Mica (pronounced MEE-ka), and I use she/her pronouns.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with diagnostic privilege (LMHC-D) in New York. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) in both English and Spanish through NYCEFT and ICEEFT.

I hold a M.S.Ed. in Counseling and Mental Health Services and an M.Phil.Ed. in Professional Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto.

My passion for couples therapy comes from my guiding belief that our relationships are fundamental for our well-being. When we feel disconnected from our partner, the emotional impact extends beyond the relationship, making other areas of our lives feel harder or even impossible to navigate. I believe that addressing relational concerns can be deeply transformative not only for the relationship but also for each person within it.

As a multiethnic clinician with an East Asian and Latin American background, I value working with clients and couples who share a similar cultural identity. I have a special interest in working with clients who want to explore themes related to identity and belonging, being “first gen,” and/or having immigrant or international parents. I’ve worked extensively with adult children of divorced parents to process the impact of parental divorce on their lives.

While my background and lived experience shape the way I approach this work, I welcome anyone who is interested in beginning this journey to reach out. I am passionate about therapy, and I want to support you to feel better.

Outside of session, you can find me at Mil Mundos Books as a Colectiva member helping out at La Tiendita or spending time with my loved ones.

I also co-lead a peer supervision group with my colleague Emma Frank, LCSW. Our goal is to create a space where therapists can connect, learn from one another, and feel supported in their work.
